Hiya! ππ» I'm Sumit Garg, 21 years old. I always have been fascinated by maths and computers since an early age and Currently, I am pursuing my undergrad in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Silchar, India.
One of the things I love most about software engineering is the constant learning that comes with it. New technologies and frameworks are constantly emerging, and I'm always eager to learn and stay up-to-date on the latest trends.
I am also a Potterhead, love travelling and try to meet new people every day, living one day at a time. I find that getting outside and engaging in hands-on activities helps me to stay balanced and focused, both in my personal life and in my work.
In my role, I finalised the design and development of various essential components, such as user profiles and event registration systems. Collaborating closely with a dedicated team, I worked tirelessly on the backend to facilitate seamless CRUD operations on crucial models like UserModel and EventModel. Additionally, I've immersed myself in the realm of cloud database applications, mastering MongoDB and honing my skills in API calls and query handling, which we seamlessly integrated into our server operations.
Beyond development, I've taken charge of hosting and managing a diverse array of events, ranging from exhilarating hackathons to engaging coding contests, robot soccer tournaments, and enlightening tech talks. These experiences have not only enriched my professional repertoire but have also allowed me to cultivate valuable leadership and organizational skills. Moreover, I've embraced the role of an educator, sharing my knowledge of full-stack development and its tools with first-year students and batchmates, empowering them to navigate the complexities of modern software engineering.
At Newton School, I taught data structures and algorithms, alongside preparing coding questions. My focus was on delivering clear explanations and practical examples to ensure students grasped key concepts effectively. Additionally, I played a role in creating challenging coding questions aimed at reinforcing their understanding. Having taught over 100 students, I was dedicated to addressing their doubts and fostering a supportive learning environment.
I actively contributed to curriculum development, crafting coding questions to enhance problem-solving skills and encourage critical thinking. Through my efforts at Newton School, I aimed to empower students with the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in software engineering.
As a front-end developer, I played a key role in enhancing the user experience of the payment portal and the user properties design for both users and administrators. Collaborating with a team of three, we focused on refining the front-end interface of the payment portal to ensure a smoother user journey. Additionally, I led the redesign of the admin properties portal and the rent section, actively contributing to their improvement. Following the implementation of these changes, we observed a notable 16 percent increase in site traffic, indicating the effectiveness of our enhancements in engaging users and facilitating their interactions with the platform.
I taught second-year students about Data Structures and Algorithms, helping them understand these topics better through classes and problem discussions. Besides teaching, I also organized fun events like hackathons and coding contests. Additionally, I created challenging problems for NIT's weekly contests to encourage students to think critically and solve problems creatively. My goal was to make learning enjoyable and inspire students to explore and innovate in the world of computer science.
